ONLINE HOME BUSINESS - WHY IT'S ESSENTIAL TO BRAND ON LINKEDIN

Leverage Linkedin as part of your unified brand strategy, it is an essential part of the puzzle of personal branding. So why brand yourself on Linkedin? Linkedin will be an invaluable asset for your career and it is a free opportunity to connect with like minded professionals and complimentary professionals, think of it as another media site in one sense a high class media site that cements and validifies your online prescence as a professional where you will be able to interact and connect to over approximately 60 million professionals in over 200 countries worldwide.

So, if you are a relatively new business or are just starting out, you may think it is too soon to join www.Linkedin.com - Wrong - this is exactly when and where you should be starting out. It is easy to create a personal brand profile and a company profile. Linkedin is where you can start connecting with people not only those who are in the same industry as yourself but to other industries who compliment your industry. In my next article and blog I will show you how to personally brand yourself on Linkedin. Firstly, why brand yourself on Linkedin. Linkedin allows you to make your profile information available tor search engines to index. Now if you just starting out you should have at least a Blog (which acts as good as website), an active Twitter account and an active Facebook account. Your blog and Twitter account have links on your main profile in Linkedin, therefore this means that as Linkedin has a fairly high PageRank on Google this will boost your Page Rankings not only on Linkedin under your personal brand name but for your Blog and Twitter accounts and eventually Facebook which is added further into your profile and also other media sites which you will add in the future. I recommend you continue adding all your media sites as you have joined them. Linkedin is also for the job hunter, consultant, professional, entrepreneur or for those who are employed it acts as a resume, a cover letter, references document, database of your contacts throughout your lifetime and a place where you can learn, share and interact in a professional manner. In the UK some of these features are similar to the those found in joining the Round Table, Masons and the like. By joining Linkedin you can invite people to connect with you, people that are in the same industry as yourself or those industries which would compliment yours and where you can obtain and refer business or people. For example, I have an onine home based internet business and it is now coming to the point where I will need to outsource some of day to day tasks in order that I can concentrate on areas to grow my business, through Linkedin I have been approached by several reputable outsourcing companies that I have been connecting with, it is so easy to develop business relationships with individuals and companies and ultimately do business with.

In addition you will join groups as many as you wish, by joining groups this improves your status, you are presenting yourself as someone who is currently professionally active in your field, as someone who takes an interest by keeping up to date with many areas that affect business you position yourself as an authority, a leader in your profession.

Sadly Linkedin is not utilised to its full potential as Linkedin compliments your profiles on Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites, in addition to your own blog or website, as well as profiles on industry based specific social networks..... so in other words you should be using the same avatar, your full name and your personal branding statement. Ensure that you update your profile as your brand grows with any latest information, conferences, upgrades anything of value however small that may be as this indicates you value your online prescence in the business market and you value your business market

There are 4 Basic Reasons as to Why Brand Yourself on Linkedin:

*1. Increase Your Visibilty
By adding connections, you increase the likelihood the people will see your profile first when they're searching for someone to hire or do business with. In addition to appearing at the top of search results (which is a major plus if you are one of 100,000 product managers on Linkedin), people would rather work with people who they know and trust. People buy People.

*2. Improve Your Connectability
Most new users only put their current company in their profile. By doing so, they severely limit their ability to connect with people. You should fill out your profile like it is an executive bio, so include past companies, education, affiliations and activities.

*3. Improve Your Google PageRank

*4. Enhance Your Search Engine Results
